Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: People interested in being able to create with conflict, eliminate struggle, or simply improve their relationships. The book is a useful tool for both business and personal lives.

Q: What is the book about?
A: This is a practical how to book. I blend concepts from the martial arts and science to create a simple method for people to apply to conflict, decision making, or just getting off ‘stuck’ to finish something. This method is called: Spiral Impact. Spiral Impact contrasts the typical ‘just do it’ hammer approach with a spiral approach which requires less energy, has more stability and gives a better long term outcome–just like the difference between a nail and a screw.

Each section begins with an analogy from my personal practice of aikido, the Japanese art of reconciliation, which is based on position, not force. The power of aikido is created by moving in a spiral. To translate this spiral effect to regular life I have defined four quadrants, or primary areas of focus: Knowledge, Focused Energy, Intention and Support. Power is achieved through Quadrant Shifting. If you follow the model not only you do you achieve your desired outcome, you can do it with grace and ease.

This book is very practical and shares short stories, everyone can relate to, of people applying the concepts. It also contains detailed application maps in the last section of the book.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I have taught these concepts in organizations for over 17 years and have a wealth of experience in what works and what doesn’t when it comes to communication, relationships and conflict resolution. I apply these concepts to my own life and continually find it works! This year marks my twentieth year of aikido practice, so when I refer to the martial art it is from many years literally on the mat exploring relationship in a very physical and physiological way.

My first career and education was in engineering. I worked as an automotive engineer for 10 years. As one of the early women in this field, I certainly learned a lot about conflict, or I should say my inability to deal with it effectively. My engineering mind and training allows me to make this material very concrete for people. It matters very much to me that people get results.

Overall, my goal is to get people to think ‘Spiral Impact’ when they find themselves struggling or stuck. When they think ‘Spiral’ things begin to move easily.

I love this material because it takes a subject most of us would like to avoid and makes it entertaining and practical. Please join me in helping make ‘Spiral Impact’ a well known verb!

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: This book is concise and practical. It doesn’t require you to read a lot of boring theory. It is written for today’s ADD mind, easy to read. And, easy to pick up, open and find something worthwhile on the page.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Yes, there is a companion CD available titled, Spiral Impact: Strengthening your Balance and Focus while Driving. One of the Quadrants in the Spiral Impact model is Focused Energy. Here I teach a concept called centering in the martial arts. This CD teaches the concept and then provides a track for centering while on your way to work; and a track for the end of the day to debrief and refocus. There is lovely acoustical guitar in the background. This was designed for driving but also can be used while sitting or walking.

Also, the book is available in audio CD read by me. The audio version is only available through www.spiralimpact.com.

Here are a few comments from readers:

“Spiral Impact is informative and useful desk reference for anyone who works or lives with other people. Karen has captured a lifetime of observations to help anyone stay centered and deal effectively with daily challenges.”
–Samuel Odle, President of Indianapolis Operations of Clarian Health

“Spiral Impact provides a road map to navigate personal and professional development with grace! Karen captures the essence of how to achieve great success. Every executive manager should have a copy!”
–Anthony Marmo, Administrator, Northeast Center for Special Care, Lake Katrine, NY and former CEO, Kingston Hospital, Kingston, NY.

“Through Spiral Impact, author Karen Valencic, takes on a topic the majority of us fear, Conflict. Valencic tackles conflict head on providing the tools for readers to shape it, mold it and ultimately dance with it!”

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: It’s a self-help-health book. Say that ten times.

Q: What is the book about?
A: It’s about enjoying the fun and intrigue of unraveling nature’s clues that fill you with awe, inspiration, and healing. This fascinating book combines ancient wisdom with modern research, and science with imagination. Connect to the wonder you felt as a child, and emulate how Nature wisely deals with change and adversity.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I am a recovering “learning addict” who ultimately discovered that the answers to most of life’s questions are found in nature’s genius. I’m a nutritionist with a Ph.D. in naturopathy (alternative medicine), a master’s degree in psychology, a nutrition degree, and a LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation. I combine all these fields to give you the dirt on nature.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: It’s really a one-of-a kind book. It’s not a nature book because most people think of nature books as photos of the forests, mountains, and sea. It’s entirely different from all other nature, and health books too, because it presents nature as your nurturer, health coach, and mentor, and yet it’s easy and fun to read.

We can take advice from motivational speakers who have been around maybe 50 years versus Nature who’s been around 4 billion years. It’s time we learn to listen to our mom—Mother Nature. Your “mother” really does know best!

Einstein said, “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.” The more you know about nature, the more you’ll understand yourself and others. So after reading this book, you’ll see things in a whole new light.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Losing touch with nature and contact with the earth can make you feel more stressed and depressed. The EPA estimates that Americans spend about 90% of their day indoors.

University of Illinois research shows that children who were outdoors more exhibit a dramatic reduction in the symptoms of ADD. The average child recognizes more than a hundred corporate logos but can’t name ten types of plants.

Our bodies are designed to be in touch with nature. When people who are depressed garden and get their hands in dirt, their depression lessens.

My sincere wish is that Nature becomes your true friend and mentor, and that this book fills you with many “awe-ha” moments. Mother Nature’s profound wisdom is right outside your front door and is free!

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: This book is for entrepreneurs, CEOs, salesman, soccer moms and students. It will serve anyone of any age from any background who knows there’s got to be more for his life than what they’re experiencing now. This book is for people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired, dissatisfied, unfulfilled and stuck in a perpetual rut. It’s for people who have fear running their life. It’s for people who are ready to let all of that go and who want to have the business and life success they see when they close their eyes.

Q: What is the book about?
A: Your life, your wealth, dreams, happiness, fulfillment and satisfaction and removing all of the beliefs, blocks and barriers that are stopping you from having whatever your heart desires. It’s about being released from the chains of your past and being free to live the life you’ve always wanted to live. It will enable you to pull the weeds of fear and stagnation right by their roots so they don’t come back anymore. You will then be able to plant a brand new garden to grow whatever future you would like.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: Every single word, concept, exercise and idea in this book came from my real life experience. There is absolutely no theory in this book. There is no hype. There is no fluff. I’ve tried and successfully mastered everything in the book. I know it works without the shadow of a doubt and I stake my reputation on it.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Most personal development books don’t work effectively. They are full of useless platitudes, tired, old concepts and boring ideas. They offer strategies and tactics, but never lead people to solving their problems. They motivate people, temporarily making them feel better, but that’s it. Motivation doesn’t last.

This book is not about motivation, it’s about transformation. It will help you get to the core beliefs that block you from experiencing joy, peace, fulfillment and freedom. And help you to change your own mind about who you are and what you believe is possible, both right now and in your future. Once you do that, your change is permanent.

In addition, it only deals with the issues at their core because when you deal with a problem at its core, it doesn’t come back anymore.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Be prepared to do all the action steps and the exercises necessary. As you “grow” through the book, be prepared to see some amazing changes in your life. If you’re not willing to do that, you won’t experience the change in your life that you’re looking for.

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: This is a self-help book that caters to people who are interested in the Law of Attraction or are wanting to live a more positive life. It reaches both a business audience as well as a personal audience. Stories and examples make both reference to the corporate fast lane as well as the day to day rhythms of love and family life.

Q: What is the book about?
A: Paving It Forward teaches a very powerful method of conscious intention called Pre-Paving. All day we are intending, and what we intend, we create. When we are conscious of every thought, and choose that thought with conscious intention, we can create, at will, whatever we want and need.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: Through an intense study of eastern philosophy with the masters of India, I learned about the energy of thought and the power to create. I put the metaphysical teaching into practical action when serving for ten years as private assistant to a billionaire, traveling the globe and working alongside global business leaders.

Through this combined experience, I developed the technique I call Pre-Paving that can be used in all aspects of everyday life to reap success, peace and fulfillment. I used Pre-Paving to overcome great obstacles in love, life and health, and also used it to build my own dream company, RnR Wellness, that owns and operates a chain of successful Canadian wellness spas.

An excerpt from Paving It Forward:

“People spend more time choosing what they are going to wear in the morning than they do how they are going to connect with people, how they will feel or what they will accomplish. Pre-Paving is choosing how you want to look, live and feel every part of your day and every part of your life.” Elisabeth Fayt

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Paving It Forward is a PRACTICAL how-to book on the Law of Attraction and other Universal Laws. It takes people from a place of THEORY and helps them walk the talk.

This book does not just inspire for the moment. Pre-Paving is a tangible tool that can be applied immediately, for instant results. Whoever reads Paving It Forward and learns how to Pre-Pave, will use Pre-Paving their entire lifetime. Once you realize that you are ceating your life, there’s no turning back.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Paving It Forward is not a book you read once, but often. Most people use it as a reference manual over and over again. They leave it by the bed or kitchen table to read a page a day, reminding them that success is a choice and can be Pre-Paved, one thought at a time.

The companion Pre-Pave Your Day card deck is also a great way to be reminded daily to choose your thoughts for what you want to create!

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: Everyday people to world leaders who are passionate about pursuing success, abundance and impact without sacrificing life balance, loved ones, social responsibility, or integrity.

Q: What is the book about?
A: The New IQ provides practical answers to the five biggest challenges of our time:
1) Why have we allowed severe integrity deficits to damage virtually all parts of our society?
2) How did so many of us adopt the insane belief that life fulfillment, wealth accumulation and a comfortable lifestyle require sacrificing integrity, people and social responsibility?
3) What do the few who succeed without making these sacrifices do to create happy fulfilling integrity-centered lives?
4) How can the rest of us easily learn to do on purpose what these rare folks do intuitively?
5) What profound improvements will we see in the world as more and more of us shift toward integrity-centered living, loving, working and serving?

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I am perhaps the world’s only clinical and organizational psychologist whose primary specialization is integrity development, enhancement and education. I have studied natural developers to discover how they create life fulfillment without sacrificing integrity, people or social responsibility. I have assisted everyday people to world leaders in developing their capacity for integrity-centered living, loving, working and serving. I am known in the media as “America’s Integrity Expert.” And, most important of all, I have lived through and recovered from the devastating impact my own integrity deficits created.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Two things set The New IQ apart: 1) It is part personal development road map, part health and wellness manual, part social change blueprint, and part staff development and leadership template; and 2) It shows everyday people to world leaders how to coordinate personal, relationship, career, and leadership development in an elegantly efficient and streamlined way.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: The New IQ’s blueprint for reconnecting the dots among integrity, life fulfillment, love, abundance, business success, and social responsibility, has been:
* Endorsed by over fifty leaders across a wide range of fields
* Embraced across the political and faith spectrums
* Honored with five book awards in the unusually diverse categories of:
* Social change
* Current events in politics & society
* Health & wellness
* Metapsychology
* Self-help

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: Those who are:
• Family members of those who are ill and bereaved individuals
• Healers: healthcare professionals, caregivers, volunteers, spiritual care providers, member of the clergy, social workers, etc.
• Individuals interested in overcoming their fears around death and the afterlife.
• Those interested in learning more about how to combine holistic approaches with end-of-life and grief care.
• Anyone interested in growing spiritually – spiritual seekers.

Q: What is the book about?
A: The Last Adventure of Life is an inspirational resource book that weaves together some of the best stories, poetry, scripture, prayers, and guided meditations that I have found to help those facing death or grief in their lives. It also includes chapters on grief and healing resources. This book also serves as an overview of hospice from a spiritual perspective; some have even said that it is one of the best introductions to hospice that they have ever read.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I am uniquely qualified to write this book because I grew up in Japan and am bilingual and bicultural. I was gifted with a broad, multi-cultural perspective and a curiosity about life that has made me delve into all kinds of material related to heath and healing through my professional and personal life.

After serving as a United Church of Christ minister for a decade, I served as a hospice spiritual and bereavement care provider for eleven years, so I developed a deep appreciation for hospice and how it can change your life. I have found that doing hospice counseling work for over a decade has given me an expanded view of life – not unlike a person who has had a near death experience. My work shares some of this material in a smorgasbord fashion.

As a healer, I am also passionate about wellness and have developed a body-mind-spirit perspective. Therefore, the last chapter of the book has a great deal of information on many of the complementary and integrative therapies such as: Aromatherapy, acupressure, acupuncture, massage, music, guided meditations, hypnotherapy, shamanism, and the like.

The material is presented in such a way as to be particularly helpful to those who are preparing to die or who are grieving. However, a person working toward their physical healing and wholeness could also benefit from reading my book.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: The Last Adventure of Life is a very comprehensive book. It covers a great deal of territory compared to most books on this topic. For example, it honors and shares material from many faith traditions and spiritual perspectives.

Most books covering hospice or these topics are either medically or religiously based. However, I share from a very broad spiritual base, so many faith perspectives are shared firsthand. Also, since there is a lengthy chapter introducing some complementary therapies at the end of the book, this also makes my book unique in its scope.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: The Celtic philosophy is that you need to die before you die so that when you die, you don’t need to die! In this vein, my book is actually meant to be a guide for someone who is ready to bring death back into their life.

Ideally, this book needs to be read by someone who is not directly facing death, but would like to deal with their fears and questions around it. Here is what Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, an expert in conscious aging had to say about my work: “Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross once had a patient who said to her ‘I want to live through my dying.”

Anyone who shares that sentiment will find The Last Adventure of Life a way to expand their consciousness and to prepare for that moment.”

Here is a list of Chapter titles from the book and some frequently asked questions that my book could help answer:

1.	TRUTH: Letting Go Is Liberating
2.	BEAUTY: The Divine Presence Within All Living Things
3.	LOVE: The Only Real Power
4.	JOY: Tuning in to Humor and Gratitude
5.	TRUST: Healing into Wholeness
6.	REFLECT: Life Review and Dealing with Unfinished Business
7.	AWARENESS: Cultivating the Art of Meditation
8.	HOPE: Reflections on the Afterlife and the Interconnectedness of All
9.	SPIRITUAL PATH: Receiving Strength from Our Faith Traditions
10.	GRACE: The Transforming Power of Grief
11.	RESOURCES FOR HEALING

The book also has an annotated bibliography with 110 books in it (including books for caregivers), and many other resources like magazines and journals, music, videos, DVDs, and websites. Many of the websites can be found as links on my website as well: www.thelastadventureoflife.com, or www.changewithcourage.com. Also, I have developed some “gift baskets for the soul” related to some of the integrative therapies I suggest in the last chapter. You can see more about my Soul Baskets at www.soulbaskets.com.

Frequently asked Questions:
• What is a near death experience? How have they transformed people’s lives?
• How can I start the “conversation” with our loved one who is sick and perhaps dying? Or with my loved ones who I must leave behind?
• What are some of the signs that death is approaching? How can I assist my loved one at this time?
• How can I talk with my children – and other young people – about death?
• What is meditation and how can it help someone before and at the time of death?
• What are some alternatives, besides more medication, to cope with the pain?
• What is hospice? How does it work?
• Where can I learn more about families directing their own family member’s funeral in a natural, personalized way?
• How can I cope with the grief I am experiencing since the death of my loved one(s)?

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: I wrote Before It Had A Name with people like me in mind who fight depression, obsessive compulsive disorder or any other “mental and emotional” disorder. I’d lived in shame for so many years and it’s time to drag the demon out of the darkness.

Q: What is the book about?
A: I had been a child training my brain to be accepted in a ‘normal’ world when a condition with no name became “Her”. I turned the condition into an individual who I co-exist with. I created two systems that have not only saved my sanity but helped me find joy in the dark world of chemical imbalance and bi-polar shame. Brain Coffins for the daily mental clutter and Brain Brakes for a softer landing after the extreme highs.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I feel I am the best person to write this book because I not only suffer like millions of others with this demon but I have learned to do it all without medication.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: This book is different because there is no confusing medical terminology. It is the story of my life and how I managed to survive six divorces, a son’s death and this demon to find real joy in life.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: The thing I’d like people to know about this book is it is the life story of a girl who lived with more that her share of tragedy but came out the victor of this demon… Praising God everyday for it!

A: I had a special dream when my husband died fourteen years ago and I researched the dream experience for ten years not finding anything on the topic. Over three hundred people responded and 120 stories are in the book, including my own personal story.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Research provides newfound comfort to surviving Loved Ones in Special Dream and this is the only book in the marketplace that identifies this specific type of dream experience.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: It was one of the winners of the 2008 Beach Book Festival in Atlantic City, NJ.

Question: Who is the intended Audience?
Answer: This book is a very valuable tool for anyone who wants to improve his or her life and act responsibly to make changes happen.

It provides the essentials for every aspect of life, be it personal health, finance, love, aging, family, youth, interpersonal relationships, spirituality. etc. Women and minorities can also find the book very helpful.

It is a compact, easy-to- read, self help for anyone who is tired of the status quo and wants to engage on the road towards a meaningful life.

Q: What is the book about?
A: It is about stopping the restless “rat race,” taking inventory of one’s life, defining one’s life purpose, identifying the steps to be taken and engaging oneself on the road to make it.

The book encourages a positive mind set with no-frills, no fake promises, and no excuses. It emphasizes that there is no “miracle cure” towards success, but one steady constant that is oneself. The reader is embarked on a journey to improve not only his or her life but also his or her surroundings. It provides the basic necessities for reaching one’s goals. Success is not compartmentalized, not limited to one demographic. The book leads to holistic success. It is hard not to find a chapter or several chapters that apply to the reader.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: Born in one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, the author came into the USA with “a small suitcase and a head full of dreams”. He has a BS in management, a Bachelors in Theology, a Masters in Economy and a Doctorate in Medicine. He has been a practicing neurologist for over 10 years and the spiritual leader of a community based church for 15 years. Through it all, he has experienced and dealt with people with grief, suffering, rejection, loss, emotional disturbance, physical illnesses, discrimination and abuses. This book is the result of many years of real life study and experiences to see what works and what does not work.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: This book takes a revolutionary approach to the word success. As a neurologist, the author believes everyone was born to succeed. So he wants to change the mind to endure the road for success as a life time commitment. Then he points out the actions needed to set a solid foundation for success in the key areas of one’s life. The book allows room for anyone to find fuel, preparation and guidelines to full personal accomplishment by getting rid of all excuses and myths of why one cannot make it.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: The biggest challenge in one’s life is to overcome the myths, misconceptions and limits set by the society. The biggest handicap to success is one self. Once the mind set is freed from the negative ideas, the fears of failing, then everyone can change the old approach, adopt a positive attitude and embrace changes that can have a positive impact in one’s life.

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: This book is intended for anyone who realizes that their life is not bringing them the joy and satisfaction desired. Though it is likely to appeal to those at midlife who are questioning the meaning of their lives, it is truly applicable to anyone who is self-reflective.

Q: What is the book about?
A: Each person is entitled to have “the good life.” Most don’t experience this because they are caught up in reacting and continually recycling old patterns that keep them stuck and emotionally frozen. By practicing the simple tools in this book, the reader will learn how to live mindfully and create a great life.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: Not only am I a psychologist in private practice, but I have had a personal journey that was quite difficult. From my own life, I realized that one does not have to be a prisoner to their past. The tools in this book are ones I’ve used — to help myself and others. Old knee-jerk reactions can be changed and emotional wounds can be healed. I lived it and I teach it and know what works.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: You need to do more than just talk in order to make changes that will really last. Talking gives you understanding. The tools in this book enable you to work with the raw feelings and heal them.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: You can change the way you have been doing things — even the things that have been automatic. The feedback from others has been overwhelmingly positive because it works.
