Answer: Successful corporate executives who, after 10-30 years in the business world, believe they may be ready to do something on their own but aren’t sure if they have “the right stuff” at the right time and want to find out.

Q: What is the book about?
A: As the American economic landscape shifts, seasoned corporate executives are looking at independent business ownership as a way to secure and control their futures, and franchised businesses are growing in their appeal.

But pouring a large amount of money into a franchise does not guarantee success. In this book, you’ll find out:

• How to determine if you can succeed as a franchise owner;
• What dangerous pitfalls to avoid as a buyer;
• The potential rewards of owning your own business;
• Whether or not the numbers make sense;
• Ways to raise money for your venture;
• And much more!

If you are tired of the corporate world and want to escape the rat race, then let Mitchell York, a successful franchisee and professional certified coach, guide you through the many steps involved in deciding whether or not to buy a franchise and how to do it right. As the former president of LendingTree Inc. and other major companies, he now owns a profitable and growing franchised business, and he’s sharing his secrets for success in Franchise: Freedom or Fantasy?

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I am a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), credentialed by the International Coach Federation, so I know how to coach people in a process like this. Moreover, I had a very successful corporate career myself, including being president of LendingTree Inc., so I’m not just a dillatante offering advice. And finally, I own a highly profitable franchised business myself, having re-invented the franchisor’s business model to suit my needs and in the process becoming its highest profit-margin franchisee. I am also a certified job search and career coach through a company called The Five O’Clock Club (www.fiveoclockclub.com), a national coaching and outplacement firm, so I am able to help people determine whether a business, or perhaps just a better job search, is the right path for them. I also am a featured blogger for www.AllBusiness.com, writing about franchising, and I write my own blog at www.e2ecoaching.com

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Other books tell you how franchises operate but not whether the entire concept is right for you.
This is the only book that targets successful corporate executives as potential franchise owners.
This is the only book written by a former senior executive of a major corporation who traded pinstripes for a Hawaiian shirt and a tiki bar, and who is also a certified business coach.

Q: Anything else we should know about this book?
A: The author offers a no-cost consultation with readers who may be thinking about business ownership after their corporate careers to help them determine whether it is the right path for them, and if so how to proceed on to success.

Answer: This book is intended for frustrated professionals fed up with life in Corporate America. This could be a young person just entering the job market, or a seasoned veteran who has been around the block a few times. Either way, the person longs for something more in their life and career. They crave a sense of meaning and purpose and would like to know that their job is not just a way to make someone else a lot of money.

Q: What book is about?
A: Refreshingly candid and honest, this career-minded guide helps professionals determine if self-employment is their ticket to a better life. Written by a successful, independent software developer, rather than a career coach or consultant, this straight-to-the-point book offers readers practical and useful advice for how to get started on their path to self-employment. It also informs the reader what the major benefits to self-employment are, along with identifying who is best suited for self-employment and what things people will need to consider. This book is not a “how to get rich quick” story. It is a “how do I maximize my potential and feel satisfied and happy with what I am doing in life” story.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: The author, Sara Morgan, knows from direct-hand experience how frustrating and un-inspiring the life of a Corporate employee can be. Four years ago she made the jump to self-employment and despite challenges, stayed true to her belief that a better, more fulfilling life lay ahead. She now lives the life she always dreamed of and she hopes to inspire others to take the remarkable path she has chosen. She is a Microsoft certified web developer and experienced author with six technical books and dozens of articles to her credit.
Q: How is this book different than other books on this topic?
A: Rather than being written by a career counselor who is just trying to sell their services, this book was written by someone who knows what it is like to actually escape the “Corporate Trap”. Sara Morgan also incorporates advice from seven other successful entrepreneurs, each of who is profiled in the book. The result is a book that is honest and easy to read and offers real advice on how to succeed in your life and career.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: I have set up an extensive web site that offers readers a sneak preview of the chapters and allows them to order books online. Answer: Executives, emerging leaders, managers, business owners, and any professional who aspires to one day lead a company or work in a management role.

Q: What is the book about?
A: In today’s turbulent economy, more managers and executives than ever need to become leaders of employees – and that requires they know how to motivate and inspire a workforce like the most forward-thinking CEO.

“Motivating like a CEO” means connecting people with purpose and passion toward a common goal. This book addresses the necessity for leaders to discover purpose; communicate it to employees in a clear and powerful way; connect them to it in a shared sense of purpose; and help them fulfill their own, individual purposes.

Motivate Like a CEO will show you how to:
•	Inspire people to embrace and share your vision
•	Speak with energy and confidence in tough situations
•	Turn challenges into opportunities
•	Get your team engaged, in the loop, and tracking real results
•	Make time in your schedule for sharing your message of motivation throughout your company

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: As the founder and CEO of Bates Communications, Inc., I’ve worked with top leaders and CEOs of companies from the Fortune 500 to startups on improving their communication skills. My team helps these leaders and emerging leaders deliver powerful speeches, successful sales presentations, impactful media interviews, and develop strategic communications plans. Over the years, we’ve noticed one factor that makes successful companies stand out from the rest – their leaders’ ability to motivate and inspire employees, customers, and stakeholders in any situation.

My first book, the bestselling Speak Like a CEO (McGraw Hill 2005), addressed the qualities leaders need to speak with impact and command attention. What evolved from that book was the need to address the motivational aspect of leadership communications. The companies that are going to succeed through these turbulent times are the ones whose leaders tell a genuine story, get people connected with a purpose and a vision, and inspire employees to discover their own passion. These are the companies that will achieve their strategic goals. Now, more than ever, I think this is essential for getting our economy back on track and rejuvenating our workforce.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: There are many books out there on motivation, and quite a few more on how to speak effectively, but this book ties in the two. I also wrote the book with executives and a business audience in mind, and interviewed dozens of successful CEOs and leaders who have found the “secret” to engaging their employees to achieve strategic goals.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: For me, one of the most exciting aspects of writing the book was being able to tell these unique, wonderful stories of CEOs and leaders who really “get it” – it being how to motivate and inspire. Some of the stories featured are those of the CEOs of Raytheon, Dow Chemical, and The North Face. One of the stories featured is that of a former executive of United Health who used the power of motivation and communicating a vision to get the entire company on board and “jazzed” about changing a long-standing operating procedure.

Lastly, I’m proud to announce that the book has been endorsed by many leading business authors (Marshall Goldsmith, Charles H. Green, Ken Blanchard) and CEOs themselves. Their thoughts can be found here: http://www.bates-communications.com/motivate/endorsements.php

More about the book can be found on my website: www.bates-communications.com/motivate/ or just by checking it out on amazon.com.

Answer: Its intended audience is employed individuals of every age and at every work level from entry level to CEO who want to learn my 50 tips on how to keep their own job secure even during tough times.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: ABC World News Tonight’s Charles Gibson calls me “America’s Workplace Guru,” but what makes me most qualified to give this advice is years as a headhunter then as a broadcast journalist writing and reporting on the workplace genre.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: I can’t find any other book even close to giving this advice and how to save (keep) your job. Not one.

It is easy to read. I tell you what to do. I don’t coach you through it. I boss you through it. Easy.

Here are some tips from the book:

1. Set a Goggle alert with your boss’s name so you know if he or she ever gets stopped for a DWI or is in the media for anything (do this on your personal e-mail account and always fact check anything you find on the internet!)

2. Set a Technorati alert for your company and stay in touch with the blog chatter about your company – is it for sale?

3. Always have a “Viagara handshake” to seal a deal, then finish the handshake with “the Clinton.” What’s that? Read this book to find out.

4. Company gossip is gold and can help you bulletproof your job. However, never be known as the company gossip – just let him think he’s your “BFF.”

5. Bosses are trained to say “office politics don’t exist in this organization.” Only dumb employees believe that.

6. Mentees-mentors and networking: Create a sleeper cell of friends in your company and industry who will emerge in a time of crisis.

7. Career coaches are for sissies. If you need a career coach, you don’t have a career!

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: My family and I have many friends who serve in the armed forces and they represent a rainbow of race, religion, and sexual orientation.

I dedicate this book to all the men and women who serve our country throughout the world. In particular, this book is for those who serve in Afghanistan and Iraq, many of whom are returning home with a job to bulletproof.

I ask that we all help find them jobs upon their safe return. And I pray for those who will not return because their first job – protecting our freedom – cost them their lives.
Stephen Viscusi

A: It is written for any front-line employee wishing to advance into management or someone in a management role believing that they should have been promoted. It’s also sound advice for someone in middle-management looking to continue to move up the corporate ladder.

Q: What is the book about?
A: Why Haven’t I Been Promoted? Because You Interview for Your Next Job Everyday empowers readers with effective advice for taking full advantage of those golden employment opportunities anytime they come knocking. The strategies include dos and don’ts that lead step-by-step up the corporate ladder. It breaks down the issue into multiple aspects, covering topics such as experience, goals, personal development, communications, results and even first impressions. It also addresses what to do when you get an interview and even how to handle the promotion rejection, should it occur.

“Why haven’t I been promoted?” is a common question in the business world. Many individuals feel confused. They have completed all the training, led projects, volunteered for extra responsibilities and did what they thought needed to be done, but still no promotion.

It’s not a simple equation. Your day to day activities, your results, your interactions, the way you present yourself are all things that can either help you or hurt you in advancing your career.

I have said many times that your career path is your individual responsibility, not that of your manager or your company. It’s not their job to make you what they want you to be. It’s your job to make yourself what they need. There is a huge difference between wants and needs. Your parents probably told you that growing up. Well, you know what, they were absolutely right. You have to take ownership of your growth and development, and don’t expect someone else to plan your career for you.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I have over 20 years of management experience for Fortune 50 companies such as Wal-Mart and CVS Caremark, managing as many as 450 employees at a time. I received my bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and my MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Over the past twenty-plus years that I have been in management, I’ve come to realize that it’s not just completing the task that gets you to the next level. From my experience, there are a lot of factors that should be taken into consideration for a promotional opportunity. There may be multiple reasons why you haven’t been promoted. But you can only impact the ones that you have control over.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Why Haven’t I Been Promoted? is written from the company’s perspective, not the employee’s. What an employee believes is not always in line with what the company expects. It explains how your career path is your responsibility, not that of your manager or company. It stresses the importance of building relationships in advance by establishing a rapport with influential co-workers. And it answers the money question: Is it more who you know or what you know?

You interview for your next job every day. Plain and simple. That’s the key to getting promoted, but most people eliminate themselves from promotional opportunities without realizing it.

By following the advice in the book, readers will finally understand why they have been passed over for promotions they thought they deserved, and more importantly, they can confidently start laying the groundwork for their next job or promotion.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Start setting yourself up for your next job today. Don’t wait until there is an opening and you apply. Your words, actions, results, and impressions up to that point might be what eliminate you from the opportunity. You might not even get an interview. They aren’t going to spend a lot of time putting you through the process if your track record tells them you aren’t the right choice.

Obviously I can’t guarantee you that next big promotion. But what I can promise you is that if you truly follow the advice in this book, you won’t eliminate yourself from those golden opportunities when they happen. Each of the assets and skills discussed in this book are things that you will benefit from in your professional life as well as your personal life. They are all 100 percent transferable, and will work with any type of business environment and at any level in the organization. It doesn’t matter if it is sales, operations, manufacturing, marketing, or even finance, each of these key suggestions will make you more valuable to the company. Once you have developed in many of these areas, you may find opportunities in areas that you never thought would interest you. Having transferable assets gives you that chance to make a change. They might open doors that you never knew existed. Areas that used to be foreign to you can now become a terrain of opportunities. Having all of these assets creates unlimited possibilities. That is the beauty of the business world. Leaders develop and evolve through numerous paths.

Linda believes that businesses today do not place enough focus on proper development of people as a key factor for successful creation and execution of key programs and initiatives. This book combines her extensive knowledge of applied marketing concepts with her long experience developing professionals as both a manager and a mentor, and draws on her consulting experience in organizations from startups to Fortune 100 companies as well.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Many career-oriented books focus on how to make the job seeker look good. This book, based on Linda’s popular workshop entitled “Marketing Product YOU,” asks the reader to consider instead how their unique set of features and benefits can help a potential employer succeed. Linda takes a novel approach to professional development: getting people to apply the same basic marketing principles that make products and services successful to their own work situations and careers. Whether you are selling toothpaste, coffee or yourself, what’s important are the benefits that meet the buyer’s wants and needs—-not the features the seller thinks are cool or exciting.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: You don’t need to be a marketing professional to benefit from this book. The marketing concepts are straightforward and easy to grasp, and the book is concise and succinct. Readers will learn why being good at what you do isn’t enough to get you noticed and promoted, and why it’s so important to develop a unique value proposition to differentiate yourself from others in the job market.

“This is a splendid example of just how these practices can work to promote careers across functions and industries. It’s an easy read, high energy, and full of tools that, used properly, can truly set you apart from your competition,” said Carol Emerson, Vice President Career Management at Right Management.

According to Karolo Aparicio, Development Director of International Rivers in Berkeley, California, “I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a job or looking to move up in their current job.”

This is the first in a series of handbooks entitled the Leverage2Market Mastery Series. The Leverage2Market Model focuses on five key elements: Products: the goods or services being marketed; Programs: the marketing initiatives being created and delivered; Processes: the way initiatives are delivered; People: those who deliver the initiatives; and Positioning, the key messages to be delivered in a campaign.

Marketing Your Career: Positioning, Packaging, and Promoting Yourself for Success is available immediately from Amazon.com and from the publisher, Woodside Business Press, at www.woodsidebusinesspress.com, as specialty business press dedicated to publishing books on stimulating and thought-provoking business and marketing-related topics.

Answer: Anyone who wants to actively take control of their life and define success in terms that mean something to them, and not let someone else determine their terms of success.

Q: What is the book about?
A: This book is part business autobiography and part motivational/inspirational. It shows how I succeeded in the world’s largest and most competitive market (as a one person consultancy) by defining the rules I live by. Then, by living life on my own terms, being truthful and candid, I became one of the most relied on and influential voices in marketing to the government. It demonstrates the many ways ideas can present themselves to you and how you can use these ideas to expand your business horizons.
Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I am the only person to write this as it is my journey. While the rules I have chosen are not necessarily new, my way of presenting them has been equated to Steve Covey’s habits being presented by Conan the Barbarian: easy to follow, no nonsense, with a heavy dose of attitude.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Confidence, attitude, results and impact. The Amtower attitude (seen in my writing, ezine, and interviews), heard on my radio shows and in my speeches. The results achieved by me, my clients and those I have mentored over the years. The combined impact of each of these and the resulting confidence displayed in all aspects of my life.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Anyone interested in leading a successful, ethics-based life: those starting a career and those stuck in a rut in the middle of a career; those who manage and those who may want to manage; those ready for a career change and downsized who need to be reminded that they retain value.

Answer: Anyone who is looking for work for the first time, or after an extended period of unemployment. This is great for those looking for entry-level or re-entry jobs. It is also an ideal resource for staff and agencies who help the unemployed get back to work.

Q: What is the book about?
A: This is a straightforward guide to get employed in ‘the real world’ no matter what choices or circumstances have held you back in the past. This book answers the difficult questions that come up when you’re trying to turn your life around by getting back to work and becoming self-supporting.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: With seventeen years experience in Workforce Development, I’ve worked with a wide variety of clients and staff to help more people overcome barriers to employment and get back to work. I’ve worked with clients returning to work after caring for parents/children, disability, welfare, jail/prison and gang involvement. Staff and clients from state, county and private agencies have been to my seminars. I’ve worked as an employee and as an employer, and write from both sides of the hiring process.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A; While most books on this topic are long and politically correct, The Working Workbook is short, sweet, to-the-point and refreshingly honest.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Since I use an easy-to-read workbook format, it is easy for readers to come up with their own answers to the challenging questions which will come up on applications and in interviews.

Answer: Women (and some men!) who are looking for a way to start a flexible career in their chosen field.

Q: What is the book about?
A: Women today are looking for ways to maintain or build a flexible career while they have a family. Full-Time Woman, Part-Time Career is the first book of its kind to bridge this gap for professional women who do not want to set up a “typical” home-based business selling kitchen accessories or cosmetics. This book teaches women what they need to do in order to set up their business and get started, set their rates, market themselves and their services, and gain new clients and grow their business. The result is that women can build a flexible home-based business in as little as two years, so that they can have the time they need to work from home while raising a family.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: For 11 years, Karen Steede Terry has been self-employed as a sought-after independent consultant and software instructor. Her rich knowledge and firsthand experience results in a very practical book filled with advice, tips, and “how-to” information for women who want to start a business or go out on their own.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Most other books on starting a home-based business feature “party-planning” businesses that require you to sell products to family and friends. Full-Time Woman, Part-Time Career is different because it is written specifically for professional, technical, and career-oriented women who want to start a business in their existing field using their unique skills and abilities. It bridges the gap for these women who struggle with the question of how to raise a family while maintaining a career.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Full-Time Woman, Part-Time Career has been extremely well-received. It has been featured on Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s nationally syndicated radio show, and the author has been interviewed on numerous radio stations. Most recently Karen was the featured story on CBS news:
Answer: This book was originally released with the SALESPERSON in mind as its target audience. But since that time, readers who are in the midst of a career crisis/job change have remarked that it has changed their lives and given them the courage to step out on faith and start their own business. Also, people who purchased the book have given it to their college age children with amazing results!

Q: What is the book about?
A: The unique feature of this book is that the material is taken from DiPietro’s direct work with entertainment superstars like Kenny Rogers, Neil Diamond, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, professional sports teams such as the Red Sox and Patriots as well as the superstars of the WWF and even the clowns from The Greatest Show on Earth.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: As a media salesperson in the Boston area, I spent over fifteen years working directly with entertainment headliners. Today, I speak to companies and organizations across the USA on increasing productivity through teamwork and persistence.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Unlike many other books that tend to “preach” to you, the easy to read style is captured in a “Lesson” in each chapter and then followed up with actual stories that show that lesson being put to use.
