Q: What is the book about?
A: Ditch the Joneses, Discover Your Family is the definitive guide on how to thrive on less than two incomes. The purpose of the book is to help families spend less money, and more time together.

We’ve all felt the pressure to “keep up with the Joneses”. Often it seems like it takes two incomes to survive in today’s economy. But what if that is not true for your family? What if your family can thrive on less than two full-time salaries and flourish by spending more time together? Ditch the Joneses, Discover Your Family tackles these tough questions using faith-based views and values, and by giving parents encouraging and realistic ideas for a healthy and solid family.

The purpose of Ditch the Joneses, Discover Your Family is to help parents make decisions about their finances that will allow them to actively seek more time together with their children and spouse.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I have lived using the ideas in my book for ten years. I can speak from my own experience, and I’ve also included research I did on other families who have thrived on less than two incomes. In order to balance time with family more effectively, I left my full-time job as a Manager of Performance Development and started my own consulting business. The main reason for this change was that I wanted to be the main caretaker for my children. I was able to balance time with my children while running my own part-time consulting business.

As a motivated organizer teaching family-oriented financial responsibility and decision making, I created my book and workbook on CD as a definitive guide for families to use. I’ve taught workshops on my topic and will continue to in the future.

I have 15 years of business coaching and training experience, and a Master of Science in Corporate Communication. I live in upstate New York with my husband and two children.

I have an intense desire to make a difference by sharing what I have learned with others. From the time that I was a child, I felt how powerful family love can be, especially when it is given in the security of God’s love. I want to try to share some of those same basic principles that I learned and saw demonstrated in my home as a child. Upon finishing my book, I pray each day to God to ask Him to use my book to help someone in need.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic? Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Ditch the Joneses, Discover Your Family challenges the two income assumption, and takes you on a journey toward the joy of discovering your family. My book provides tools that are user friendly, focusing on realistic ideas for families searching for balance in how they spend their time and money.

As a part of the Ditch the series, I also created a Workbook on CD. The Ditch the Joneses, Discover Your Family Workbook on CD helps you jump into action and begin making changes right away. This step-by-step workbook walks you through how to thrive on less than two incomes. Many concepts from the Ditch the Joneses, Discover Your Family book are included, along with the following special features:
• Spending and debt diaries
• Monthly bill management system
• Family priorities chart
• A comprehensive action plan for you to begin planning with your family
• A personal coaching session with me, the author.

Through integrity and faith-based principles, I bring practical know-how and enthusiasm for flourishing families to this workbook and personal coaching audio session.

In this book, you’ll get all of the following:
- Expert advice on turning your talents into cash through freelancing and consulting
- Tips and tricks for retaining a steady day job paycheck without the rigid 9-to-5 office schedule
- Passive income techniques including real estate investing and internet marketing
- Valuable ways to run your own business without it running your life
- A ten-step, ten year success program for reinventing your work life

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I have over 15 years’ experience in the field of personal growth and motivation. I earned a dual-degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and Marketing from the Wharton School of Business. After graduation, I spent eight years at American Express honing my skills in a variety of areas from business management, marketing, and leadership to talent assessment, development, and employee satisfaction.

Facing 25 more years in an unpredictable corporate job to reach retirement convinced me there had to be a better way. I desired both personal freedom and career stability to truly take charge of my livelihood. Right around this time, I also found himself in the Twin Towers on 9/11 when the first plane struck.

Surviving 9/11 was just the push that I needed to properly reevaluate my priorities. I devoted the next three months to a thorough personal analysis of my strengths. Recognizing I was talented in public speaking, writing, coaching, and Human Resources consulting, I left American Express to launch BoldRoad.com. My company inspires people to take action toward working less, earning more, and living a better life through books, live seminars, and personalized consulting.

I’ve shared my insights through appearances on CNN, CBS, NJN, and “Voice of America,” and through interviews with USA Today, the (New York) Daily News, the Denver Post, the Chicago Tribune, and the Boston Herald. The beauty of my new life is that I do all of this work in three days a week while earning more than double my former corporate salary. This leaves plenty of time to enjoy life with my wife Carol and our two kids.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: This book is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s not a book about choosing your lucky lottery numbers, trying out for game shows, or trolling beaches with a metal detector. The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Working Less, Earning More is a practical, clear, and most importantly… attainable game plan for reducing the hours you spend on the job while increasing your income.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: This book is just the beginning of your working less, earning more journey.

You can also visit www.NewIncomeStreamsNow.com to take it to the next level. At the site you can download a free eBook that will give even more tips including:

Q: What is the book about?
A: Thinking Your Way to Happy is all about being happy and restoring choice in areas of life where, at times, it may seem as there is no choice. Human beings are creatures of habit. The brain loves the comfort of repetition even if it brings great pain and suffering. People, everyday make choices to; be late, over eat, or to be too busy or stressed for their children, to ignore the budget, to delay health, to hold a grudge, to react instead of respond, to indulge in immediate gratification - essentially people choose to neglect important areas of their lives – yet often it does not feel as though any choice is involved in this process at all.

The books fundamental message is around governing your thoughts and interrupting automatic behaviours in favour of personal freedom and results that inspire. The intention of the book is to help you to begin to think from a new place, thus engaging the frontal lobe the area of the brain responsible for conscious choice. The more you do so, the easier the process of change becomes.

The book addresses taking yourself off auto pilot with your reactions and habit; letting go, and new beginnings. It’s through tiny internal shifts in your perspective that massive external changes can come about in love relationships, career, finance or health.

Thinking Your Way to Happy! also identifies the most common ‘Happy Traps’ to look out for; Give up the ‘someday, one day, when day, western mentality where you reserve joy and happiness for when your business is finally thriving, you lose that extra weight, your credit cards are paid off or you meet that special someone.’ Thinking Your Way to Happy! asks you to connect with joy today, instead of in the ever illusive future.

This gem of a book, addresses the limitations in our thinking via conditioning. ‘The world is flat, the world is flat, I know this because the experts said so…’, mentality – essentially how information unchallenged (true or not) can shape our reality. Ultimately any changes in life will be witnessed only after changing in ones thinking.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: As a child I was increasing perplexed when people around me were unhappy. To me the option of being joyful and in the moment was the only appealing choice. As a Coach, it has become my life’s work to explore how human beings create lasting change in their lives. My intention is to provide information that expands awareness to experience a greater sense of control over daily choices AND better understanding why people often don’t and end up in a cycle of suffering and limitation. I research all things that influence human thought; psychology, neurology, bio chemistry, nutrition, philosophy and the quantum realm.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: People have busy lives and are juggling many important commitments; career, children, health, wealth and a social calendar – even social responsibilities – in Thinking Your Way to Happy! every page stands on its own offering a Life Principle and an Inspiring quote. In this manner, the book becomes a momentary reference guide that can be picked up and put down with compelling insight achieved within moments! There is no lengthy time investment for an ah-ha.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Thinking Your Way to Happy! is a simple and delightful book offering 112 life principles for daily power and freedom. The book is written by Robin H-C eager to share her empowering philosophies. Robin H-C is most recognized from her weekly Life Coach guest spot on City TV’s – CP24 inspiring viewers to get enthusiastic about their lives and take action!

Robin has offered her expertise to viewers and listeners on; Charles Adler, The Life Network, Breakfast TV, Daytime TV, CTV, and City TV. She has been published in Metro Today, Flare magazine, Palm Beach Post, the Toronto Sun, the Toronto Star, the National Post, to name a few.
Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: People interested in being able to create with conflict, eliminate struggle, or simply improve their relationships. The book is a useful tool for both business and personal lives.

Q: What is the book about?
A: This is a practical how to book. I blend concepts from the martial arts and science to create a simple method for people to apply to conflict, decision making, or just getting off ‘stuck’ to finish something. This method is called: Spiral Impact. Spiral Impact contrasts the typical ‘just do it’ hammer approach with a spiral approach which requires less energy, has more stability and gives a better long term outcome–just like the difference between a nail and a screw.

Each section begins with an analogy from my personal practice of aikido, the Japanese art of reconciliation, which is based on position, not force. The power of aikido is created by moving in a spiral. To translate this spiral effect to regular life I have defined four quadrants, or primary areas of focus: Knowledge, Focused Energy, Intention and Support. Power is achieved through Quadrant Shifting. If you follow the model not only you do you achieve your desired outcome, you can do it with grace and ease.

This book is very practical and shares short stories, everyone can relate to, of people applying the concepts. It also contains detailed application maps in the last section of the book.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I have taught these concepts in organizations for over 17 years and have a wealth of experience in what works and what doesn’t when it comes to communication, relationships and conflict resolution. I apply these concepts to my own life and continually find it works! This year marks my twentieth year of aikido practice, so when I refer to the martial art it is from many years literally on the mat exploring relationship in a very physical and physiological way.

My first career and education was in engineering. I worked as an automotive engineer for 10 years. As one of the early women in this field, I certainly learned a lot about conflict, or I should say my inability to deal with it effectively. My engineering mind and training allows me to make this material very concrete for people. It matters very much to me that people get results.

Overall, my goal is to get people to think ‘Spiral Impact’ when they find themselves struggling or stuck. When they think ‘Spiral’ things begin to move easily.

I love this material because it takes a subject most of us would like to avoid and makes it entertaining and practical. Please join me in helping make ‘Spiral Impact’ a well known verb!

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: This book is concise and practical. It doesn’t require you to read a lot of boring theory. It is written for today’s ADD mind, easy to read. And, easy to pick up, open and find something worthwhile on the page.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Yes, there is a companion CD available titled, Spiral Impact: Strengthening your Balance and Focus while Driving. One of the Quadrants in the Spiral Impact model is Focused Energy. Here I teach a concept called centering in the martial arts. This CD teaches the concept and then provides a track for centering while on your way to work; and a track for the end of the day to debrief and refocus. There is lovely acoustical guitar in the background. This was designed for driving but also can be used while sitting or walking.

Also, the book is available in audio CD read by me. The audio version is only available through www.spiralimpact.com.

Here are a few comments from readers:

“Spiral Impact is informative and useful desk reference for anyone who works or lives with other people. Karen has captured a lifetime of observations to help anyone stay centered and deal effectively with daily challenges.”
–Samuel Odle, President of Indianapolis Operations of Clarian Health

“Spiral Impact provides a road map to navigate personal and professional development with grace! Karen captures the essence of how to achieve great success. Every executive manager should have a copy!”
–Anthony Marmo, Administrator, Northeast Center for Special Care, Lake Katrine, NY and former CEO, Kingston Hospital, Kingston, NY.

“Through Spiral Impact, author Karen Valencic, takes on a topic the majority of us fear, Conflict. Valencic tackles conflict head on providing the tools for readers to shape it, mold it and ultimately dance with it!”

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: Everybody! From teens going green to my 92 year-old aunt who is composting in her retirement home. And everyone in between who is looking for a safer way to grow food and flowers in their backyard, front porch or NYC fire escape!

Q: What is the book about?
A: From Booklist review, March 2010:
“While offering plenty of sound and sensible organic gardening advice, Spiegelman lightens the load with quippy and pithy observations that make the experience feel more like a casual conversation with a good, green-thumbed friend than a lecture from a stuffy horticulturist.

A transplanted Manhattanite who found herself gardening in California, Spiegelman wisely enrolled in master gardener classes before she killed so many plants she’d qualify for a ‘most wanted’ poster at the local nursery. She shares her hard-won knowledge glibly but with a great deal of gravity, too. Gardens are fun, yes, but the benefits they provide, from the aesthetic to the ecological, should be taken seriously.”

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: Because I was a really bad gardener and now I’m a really good gardener. Ta-da!

I am now a Master Gardener and a garden columnist for the Pacific Sun newspaper in California. I’m also a concerned, opinionated and outspoken parent. I’m passionate about passing on land and water that is safe and clean to the next generation. If we don’t clean up our act environmentally, they’ll think their parents were so lame!

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: It’s written by an ex-New Yorker who works in the movie business and somehow, down the road, fell in love with soil. Go figure? If I can do it, anyone can.

Topics in the book:

• The secret to great soil (the only way to have a healthy garden)
• Organic rose care and flowers that invite the good bugs
• The least toxic ways to combat pests in your yard
• Learning to worship the worm and build a compost pile
• Tips and tricks for growing killer tomatoes
• A seasonal breakdown of gardening chores to stay on top of your garden year-round

Each chapter ends with a plant recommendation by Annie’s own Dirt Diva Royal Horticultural Society along with a rating system of how easy or difficult the plant is to grow and upkeep. Packed with tips for shopping, learning, and promoting environmentally sound garden practices, this one-stop handbook is ideal for anyone looking to grow their green thumb.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Yes, these people are talking dirt about me:

It’s hard to resist a gardening book that’s both chocked full of information, and fun to read. It doesn’t matter if you are a novice gardener or more experienced, Annie, “The Dirt Diva,” shows the way to growing and enjoying a natural, sustainable, organic garden.
–Nell Newman, Co-founder and President of Newman’s Own Organics

Annie Spiegelman (AKA the Dirt Diva) understands what gardening is really about: having fun…even when you aren’t having fun! This book is laugh out loud useful and smart. Frankly, it’s the best book on Organic Gardening that I’ve seen in 11 years (since mine came out). The Dirt Diva Royal Horticultural Society is the only gardening club I really want to be a member of.
–Maria Rodale, CEO of Rodale Inc.

Fun, factual, and filled with ideas. What sets Talking Dirt apart from all other organic gardening how-to guides is Anne Spiegelman. The information is presented with personality and wit making this book a must have resource for the aspiring organic gardener.
–Michael C. Metallo, President National Gardening Association

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: The intended audience is teen and pre-teen girls – many of whom already call themselves “Tao-Girls”.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: After great success with my first book, Tao of the Defiant Woman, the women who read the book and/or attended my seminars and workshops asked me to write a similar book for their daughters and granddaughters.

I began by traveling the country and working with girls; listening to their stories and starting a community of Tao-Girls. I met with girls who were members of national organizations such as the Uniquely Me Councils of Girl Scouts of America, and community organizations, as well as smaller, individual groups of girls.

I learned much about these girls and found that they eagerly accepted my Tao and dynamic philosophy into their lives. They listened to me, were comfortable spending time with me and telling me their stories. And they participated in the writing of “their” book.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Many books are out there for these young girls. Tao-Girls Rule!, however, gives them a role model to follow – Tao-Girl – who understands that to grow in self confidence and travel the paths of their lives with strength and joy they need to be:

Tenacious, Accepting, Optimistic, Grateful, Imaginative, Radiant, Loving.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: As for there being anything else you should know about the book, I would like to quote part of the text from the back cover:
” If you are the sort of girl who wants to find balance, be confident and act boldly, this book has all of the rules.”

“In Tao-Girls Rule! CJ Golden brings her guidance and insight to teen and pre-teen girls as they face the challenges of growing up in an ever-changing and complex world. Combining the acceptance of the ancient philosophy of Tao with a healthy dose of boldness, Golden helps young girls grow in self-esteem and confidence.”

“Whether you are worrying about your BFF not liking you, struggling with the way your body looks, or just trying to deal with all of the homework your teacher gave you last night, Tao Girls Rule! is for you. Inside you’ll find simple, yet powerful ways to discover and appreciate your very best self and live life with confidence and boldness when faced with challenges. Tao Girls DO Rule!‘ -Leanne Gluck, Project Manager, uniquely ME! Girl Scouts of the USA”

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: Every author thinks about getting on Amazon, but this book validates the aspirations of a much broader audience.

• Speakers, trainers and consultants have information they would love to share with event participants, attendees and potential clients.

• Inventors, programmers and product development gurus have processes about which the public needs to know.

• Professors, teachers and moms have book ideas for the students they serve.

• Pastors have sermon sets and grandmothers have the journals of a lifetime.

It has been said that there is a book in each of us, and the current publishing platforms make it possible for anyone, any author, to have their chance on stage.

Q: What is the book about?
A: eBooks: Idea to Amazon in 14 Days is ideal for how-to and business authors who want to take their words from private to public. This book reads like a personal journal, but is actually a guide for any author who is ready to sell some books.

The blow-by-blow progression of Marnie’s 2-week journey, from idea to publication, provides the shortcuts and success strategies you need to get published now.

David Sanford, Literary Agent. “Write and sell your first ebook. Marnie’s fast-paced book tells you virtually everything you need to know. Highly recommended!”

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: I didn’t choose myself. A regional library directory chose me as the right person. I am the author of 11 books and eBooks, a pinch hit trainer, and a library lover. Once chosen, I invested every ounce of energy and every resource I could muster to put together the best training on the topic available right now. I hope I succeeded.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Author opportunities are changing at a mind boggling rate. This book is definitely the up-to-the-minute resource for authors who are serious about getting onto Amazon with the shortest learning curve possible.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: I am a how-to author. I write virtually for real people, with real challenges, who live in a real world. My hope and prayer is that something I say, write, or do will have a positive affect on your life, or at least on your day. Thanks for the opportunity to be here!

A: I am a recovering “learning addict” who ultimately discovered that the answers to most of life’s questions are found in nature’s genius. I’m a nutritionist with a Ph.D. in naturopathy (alternative medicine), a master’s degree in psychology, a nutrition degree, and a LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation. I combine all these fields to give you the dirt on nature.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: It’s really a one-of-a kind book. It’s not a nature book because most people think of nature books as photos of the forests, mountains, and sea. It’s entirely different from all other nature, and health books too, because it presents nature as your nurturer, health coach, and mentor, and yet it’s easy and fun to read.

We can take advice from motivational speakers who have been around maybe 50 years versus Nature who’s been around 4 billion years. It’s time we learn to listen to our mom—Mother Nature. Your “mother” really does know best!

Einstein said, “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.” The more you know about nature, the more you’ll understand yourself and others. So after reading this book, you’ll see things in a whole new light.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Losing touch with nature and contact with the earth can make you feel more stressed and depressed. The EPA estimates that Americans spend about 90% of their day indoors.

University of Illinois research shows that children who were outdoors more exhibit a dramatic reduction in the symptoms of ADD. The average child recognizes more than a hundred corporate logos but can’t name ten types of plants.

Our bodies are designed to be in touch with nature. When people who are depressed garden and get their hands in dirt, their depression lessens.

My sincere wish is that Nature becomes your true friend and mentor, and that this book fills you with many “awe-ha” moments. Mother Nature’s profound wisdom is right outside your front door and is free!

Question: Who is the intended audience?
Answer: This book is for entrepreneurs, CEOs, salesman, soccer moms and students. It will serve anyone of any age from any background who knows there’s got to be more for his life than what they’re experiencing now. This book is for people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired, dissatisfied, unfulfilled and stuck in a perpetual rut. It’s for people who have fear running their life. It’s for people who are ready to let all of that go and who want to have the business and life success they see when they close their eyes.

Q: What is the book about?
A: Your life, your wealth, dreams, happiness, fulfillment and satisfaction and removing all of the beliefs, blocks and barriers that are stopping you from having whatever your heart desires. It’s about being released from the chains of your past and being free to live the life you’ve always wanted to live. It will enable you to pull the weeds of fear and stagnation right by their roots so they don’t come back anymore. You will then be able to plant a brand new garden to grow whatever future you would like.

Q: Why are you the best person to write this book?
A: Every single word, concept, exercise and idea in this book came from my real life experience. There is absolutely no theory in this book. There is no hype. There is no fluff. I’ve tried and successfully mastered everything in the book. I know it works without the shadow of a doubt and I stake my reputation on it.

Q: How is this book different from other books on this topic?
A: Most personal development books don’t work effectively. They are full of useless platitudes, tired, old concepts and boring ideas. They offer strategies and tactics, but never lead people to solving their problems. They motivate people, temporarily making them feel better, but that’s it. Motivation doesn’t last.

This book is not about motivation, it’s about transformation. It will help you get to the core beliefs that block you from experiencing joy, peace, fulfillment and freedom. And help you to change your own mind about who you are and what you believe is possible, both right now and in your future. Once you do that, your change is permanent.

In addition, it only deals with the issues at their core because when you deal with a problem at its core, it doesn’t come back anymore.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about this book?
A: Be prepared to do all the action steps and the exercises necessary. As you “grow” through the book, be prepared to see some amazing changes in your life. If you’re not willing to do that, you won’t experience the change in your life that you’re looking for.
